Muslim Artist Professional Development Initiative 2026
We are elevating our art and artists by conducting our first “Muslim Artists Professional Development Initiative” in April. MAPDI is a four-week pilot program made possible by grant support from the BIPOC Artist Network Fund. Geared toward emerging and mid-career artists, the initiative is led by accomplished artists from the Houston arts community.
Designed for a small cohort of Islamic Arts Society artists, the program fosters meaningful engagement, in-depth discussion, and hands-on learning. Throughout the initiative, participants will develop essential professional materials, including a professional artist biography, artist statement, arts résumé, and a compelling elevator pitch. Each artist will set individual professional development goals, leaving the program with a clear roadmap for refining their practice and advancing their art careers beyond the initiative.
