Islamic Arts Day at Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
The Islamic Arts Society is proud to partner with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston for the “New Beginnings Spring Festival” that took place last weekend.
The event was part of the celebrations taking place around the opening of the New Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds. With this new addition, Houston will now have a permanent exhibit of Islamic Arts at the MFAH.
We presented numerous hands-on art activities including Ebru making (artists Shaheen Rahman & Nazli Cizmeci), geometric art and coloring artist Sana Mirza), calligraphy (artists Monther Yousef and Syed Fakhri), and ceramic tiles (artist Morad Jasem). These art activities were very popular among visitors and educated Houstonians about Islamic Art.
We thank all the visitors and artists for taking part in this event. We also wish to thank Dr. Aimee Froom, curator of Arts of the Islamic World at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for giving us the opportunity to showcase the beauty of Islamic art.
